English Selected 12th Overall In 2026 PLL College Draft

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – North Carolina men's lacrosse defensive midfielder Ty English was selected in round two of the 2026 Premier Lacrosse League College Draft, by the Carolina Chaos with the 12th overall selection Tuesday evening.
English is the seventh Tar Heel selected in the PLL Draft since the league's inception in 2019, the first since Connor Maher in 2023. In addition to Tuesday night, English was previously selected second overall by the Toronto Rock in the 2025 NLL Draft in September.
The Burlington, Ontario native is a two-time team captain for the Tar Heels, earning USILA honorable mention All-America honors a season ago.
During his time in Chapel Hill thus far, English has appeared in 59 career games, starting 14 games at offensive midfield in 2025. The do-it-all midfielder has posted 34 goals and 12 assists offensively, while adding 118 ground balls and 42 caused turnovers in his career.
Through the first 12 games of 2026, English has five goals, 28 ground balls and nine caused turnovers. English has four games of four-or-more ground balls, highlighted by a season-high five ground balls in ranked wins versus Penn and Penn State. Additionally, the graduate student has recorded three games of two caused turnovers this spring.
Up next, the third-ranked Tar Heels travel north to No. 11 Virginia Saturday. Opening faceoff between Carolina and the Cavaliers from Charlottesville is set for Noon, airing on ACCNX.
