No. 1 Women’s Lacrosse Takes Down Duke, 11-5
April 16, 2026 | Women's Lacrosse
DURHAM, N.C. – No. 1 North Carolina women's lacrosse defeated No. 20 Duke 11-5 on Thursday evening to finish off an unbeaten ACC season for the second consecutive season. Chloe Humphrey scored seven goals and dished out three assists, while the defense held Duke scoreless in the second half.
The Heels have now won 22 straight ACC games and beaten Duke 17 straight times.
Humphrey was up to her usual tricks and scored in a number of different ways while eventually getting her teammates in on the act. But, the story was the defensive effort across the board including 11 saves between Betty Nelson and Lexi Zenk.
The Heels battled through a tough first half that saw them turn the ball over but strong defense and good goalie play from Nelson kept the margin at 5-3 at halftime. The Heels tough defense and excellent goal keeping from Zenk allowed the offense to get in rhythm and the Heels ran off seven straight to seal the victory.
