Emily LeGette Named Top 25 Finalist For USA Softball Collegiate Player Of The Year
April 29, 2026 | Softball
OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – USA Softball announced that Emily LeGette has been named a Top 25 Finalist for USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year on Wednesday afternoon.
Â
The USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award is voted on by previous award winners, coaching representatives from nine Division I Conferences in the 10 USA Softball Regions as well as members of National and Local media who consistently cover Division I softball across the country.Â
Â
Emily LeGette had the best regular season in UNC softball history etching her name all over the record books. She sits atop the record book for a single season in home runs (26), slugging percentage (1.121), total bases (148), and sacrifice flies (9). She ranks second in RBI (74), batting average (.470), on-base percentage (.571), and walks (43). She also tied the single game record for home runs (3) and total bases (12) in the same game.
Â
LeGette joins Florida State's Isa Torres and Duke's Aminah Vega as the only representatives from the ACC.
Â
The finalists will be narrowed down to 10 on May 13, and the top three will be announced on May 18, with the winner revealed prior to the Women's College World Series.
Â
To ensure that the award only considers regular season performance and to prevent any influence from post-season play, the Player of the Year voting will conclude after the Top 10 vote. The Top 3 athletes with the highest number of points at the conclusion of the Top 10 vote will be selected as the Top 3 Finalists and, from them, the Player of the Year will be chosen as the athlete with the most votes.
