May 18, 2026 | Baseball
WICHITA, Kan. – Carolina baseball catcher Macon Winslow has been named to the Buster Posey National Collegiate Catcher of the Year Semifinalist, the Wichita Sports Commission announced on Monday morning.
Â
Elite behind the dish and at the plate, Winslow has been a stalwart all season for the No. 2 Diamond Heels. He finishes the regular season hitting .307 with nine home runs, 51 RBIs, and 55 runs scored to his name.
Â
Defensively he, alongside his catching partner Colin Hynek, is leading Carolina to a historically significant season. The duo has only allowed 18 steals on 29 attempts thus far. It is the second fewest stolen bases surrendered by the program this century through 54 games, second only to the 2016 team.
Â
Winslow's prowess, highlighted by eight runners caught stealing, has helped the Heels lead the ACC in stolen bases allowed by a wide margin. Louisville is second with 29 as a team.
Â
The Hertford, N.C., native is one of 16 semifinalists for the award. Voting done by all Division I head coaches, select scouts and national media, and the award's selection committee members will conclude on May 28. Five finalists will then be announced on June 1.
