Men's Basketball Welcomes Neo Avdalas To Carolina Family

Neo Avdalas, a 6-9 rising sophomore guard from Greece, is joining the University of North Carolina men's basketball team after playing one season at Virginia Tech.
Avdalas averaged 12.1 points and 4.6 assists in 31 games for the Hokies. He twice earned ACC Rookie-of-the-Week honors, one of five freshmen to win the award multiple times. He went to Blacksburg after playing two seasons in Greece's HEBA A1 league, including AS Karditsas in 2023-24 and Peristeri BC in 2024-25.
For the Hokies, Avdalas scored in double figures 19 times with highs of 33 against Providence and 30 vs. Western Carolina. He was ninth in the ACC in assists per game and 10th in assist-turnover ratio. He had five or more assists 15 times with a season-high nine vs. Charleston Southern. On February 28, the native of Athens, Greece, scored 19 points, including three three-pointers, and had five assists against the Tar Heels in the Smith Center. That was one of eight times he made three or more three-pointers.
Avdalas led the Hokies in assists with 141 (38 more than any other player), was third with 49 three-pointers and fourth in scoring.
