CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Emily LeGette and Sanaa Thompson earned All-Atlantic Coast Conference honors, the league announced Wednesday morning.
Â
LeGette was named to the first team after hitting a UNC-record 26 home runs in the regular season. She is the second first-team selection of the Megan Smith Lyon era, joining her high school teammate Kat Rodriguez with her first-team honors last season.
Â
The Fort Lauderdale, Fla., native finished the regular season ranking first in single season program history in home runs, slugging percentage, sac-flies and total bases. She finished second in RBI, batting average, on base percentage and walks. She also tied the single-game record for home runs and total bases.
Â
Thompson finds herself on the second team after a historic season of her own. She shattered the single-season program record for runs, sitting at 71 so far. She also racked up the second most hits in a single season with 81. She has the third-best batting average, fifth-best on base percentage, seventh-most total bases and ninth-best slugging percentage. She also tied the single-game runs record three separate times.
Â
UNC now looks forward to the ACC Tournament, where it'll take on Clemson at 5 p.m. Wednesday on ACCN.
