Shipp Tabbed To Allstate Wuerffel Trophy Watch List

CHAPEL HILL – North Carolina junior wide receiver Jordan Shipp has been named to the 2026 Allstate Wuerffel Trophy Watch List, which recognizes FBS players who lead through community service while excelling the classroom and on the field, the organization announced Tuesday.
As college football's premier award for community service, the Allstate Wuerffel Trophy recognizes student-athletes who use their platforms to serve others and make a positive impact in their communities. Named after Danny Wuerffel, the 1996 Heisman Trophy winner and former University of Florida quarterback, the award reflects his lifelong commitment to leadership, service and unity.
In addition to being a standout player on the field, Shipp also shines in the classroom and the community. He was a 2026 ACC Top Six for Service Award recipient, after participating in numerous community service events such as visiting the UNC Children's Hospital, participating in Habitat for Humanity and volunteering at TABLE, which provides healthy food and nutrition education to kids in Orange County since 2008.
The Charlotte native has also visited the SECU House to serve meals to patients and their families who travel great distances to UNC hospitals for life-saving procedures and serious illnesses. Shipp has also visited local elementary schools to read to kids and has helped organize back-to-school drives to provide kids with school supplies.
Academically, Shipp recently earned his undergraduate degrees in exercise science and communications, graduating in just two and half years on campus. He was a College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team selection in addition to claiming All-ACC Academic Team and ACC Honor Roll recognition. Shipp is also a Tar Heel Scholar-Athlete, Athletic Director's Scholar-Athlete and earned the UNC Chancellors Jim Tatum Memorial Award, which is given to a student-athlete who has contributed to the University community through constructive participation in co-curricular activities.
On the field, Shipp was the Tar Heels' leading receiver with 60 catches for 671 yards and six touchdowns en route to earning All-ACC Honorable Mention honors during a breakout sophomore season. His 60 receptions and six receiving TDs were the sixth most in the ACC and his receiving yardage was 14th in the conference. Shipp found the end zone in four of Carolina's last five games compiling 351 yards on 31 catches during that span.
Shipp recorded his first multi-touchdown game against Richmond with four catches for 52 yards and a pair of scores. He had a career-long 55-yard touchdown run against Stanford to lead the Tar Heels to the victory.
The Allstate Wuerffel Trophy finalists will be selected by the Allstate Wuerffel Trophy National Selection Committee, with input from a fan vote. The 2026 recipient will be announced live on The Home Depot College Football Awards show on December 11, and also serve as captain of the 2026 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team.
The 2026 recipient and finalists will be invited to join Wuerffel in New York City for Heisman Trophy events, including the Wuerffel Foundation's Picklebowl: Heisman Edition. The Allstate Wuerffel Trophy Presentation Gala will follow in February 2027 at the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta.
