2019 – Redshirt Senior Season

A valuable squad member that continued to rehab from various injuries over his final two seasons.

2018 - Senior Season

Missed the entire season after suffering a torn ACL in spring practice.

2017 - Junior Season

Started eight games and appeared in 11 contests • Hauled in 25 catches for 177 yards and four TDs to lead all Tar Heel tight ends • His four TDs ranked second on the team • Had three catches for 29 yards at NC State • Made it back-to-back games with a TD, finishing with three catches for 11 yards and a score in the win over WCU • Had three catches for 23 yards and his third TD of the year in the win at Pitt • Caught two passes for 15 yards against Miami • Finished with two catches for 15 yards against Virginia • Caught a season-high four balls for 18 yards at Georgia Tech • Finished with two catches for 24 yards against Duke after missing the ODU game • Had his second career two-TD game with a pair of scoring receptions in the first half against Louisville • Saw extensive action in the season opener against Cal, finishing with two catches for 17 yards.

2016 - Sophomore Season

Limited to nine games due to injury, but had seven starts • Finished with six receptions for 59 yards and a TD on the season • Started the Sun Bowl and had one reception • Had a 12-yard catch vs. NC State • Caught his first TD of the season on a 19-yard pass from Mitch Trubisky vs The Citadel • Caught two passes for five yards at Duke • Made his first reception of the season with a 23-yard catch in the 48-20 win over Georgia Tech • Returned from injury for the Pitt game, but was sidelined again later in the game • Missed the Illinois and JMU game with an injury • Left the Georgia game with an injury in the first quarter and did not return.

2015 - Redshirt Freshman Season

Appeared in all 14 games and caught 16 passes for 203 yards and four TDs • Caught 11 passes in the last six games of the season • Had two first-half catches for 19 yards and a TD in the Russell Athletic Bowl vs. Baylor, but missed the second half with an injury • Had single catches against Clemson and NC State • Finished with three catches for a season-high 63 yards in the win at Virginia Tech • Reeled in his third TD catch of the year, a 2-yard reception against Miami • Finished with two grabs for 19 yards in the win over the Hurricanes • Had two receptions for 37 yards, including a season-long 36-yard play, in the win over Duke • Finished with one catch for five yards against Wake Forest • Caught one pass for 11 yards in the win over Delaware • Scored his first two career TDs in the win over NC A&T • Caught a 2-yard TD pass from high school teammate Mitch Trubisky and added a 1-yard score from Marquis Williams • Finished with three catches for 11 yards against the Aggies • Redshirted in 2014 • Enrolled at UNC in January, 2014, and participated in spring practice.

Ranked the No. 23 tight end in the country and one of the top 35 players in the state of Ohio by Rivals.com • Considered the No. 38 tight end in the nation by Scout.com • Played at the same high school as former UNC quarterback Mitch Trubisky • Played most of his career as a wide receiver • Caught 69 passes for 1,068 yards and 12 TDs as a senior • In his junior season, he caught 59 passes from Trubisky for 1,187 yards and 17 TDs • Posted more than 850 receiving yards and had eight TDs as a sophomore • Won a state championships at Mentor in basketball • Coached by Steve Trivisonno.

His nickname is “Frittsy” • Son of Robert and Kim Fritts • Wears No. 82 because it is the same number as his favorite tight end, Jason Witten.
