Alex Bassil, 5-10, 185 pounds

Breschi on Bassil: Fighting for the starting goalkeeper position…played half the season a year ago…has had a pretty decent fall…will be fighting for the starting spot.
2018 (Junior): Was Carolina’s starting goalkeeper for the last five games of the season…played in eight games overall, totaling 348 minutes in goal…made 66 saves and allowed 64 goals for a save percentage of .508…allowed 11.03 goals per game…had nine ground balls, including two each against Maryland, Virginia and Syracuse…reached double figures in saves on four occasions, including 14 against Notre Dame while allowing just nine goals in 60 minutes…was named ACC Defensive Player of the Week after the Tar Heels’ win over Notre Dame in the regular season finale…also named to the USILA National Team of the Week after his stellar performance against the Fighting Irish…had 10 saves each against Maryland, Virginia and Syracuse…earned honors on 2018-19 ACC Academic Honor Roll.

My most underrated strength about my lacrosse game is my sweatpants.
My best friend on my club lacrosse team was C.J. Carpenter and he is now playing at Duke.
Every high school recruit should dream of becoming a Tar Heel because of all the history it represents.

An ideal Saturday afternoon in the summer is spent hanging out with my housemates.
My teammate with the best taste in music is Paddy Sheehan because he can play hot cross buns on the recorder.
My favorite professional sports team is whatever team LeBron is on at the time.
The best movie I’ve ever seen on a lacrosse bus trip is Holy Mountain by Alejandro Jodorowsky.
The foreign country I would love to visit most is Italy because of the Sistene Chapel.

My favorite tailgate food is Al’s Cheeseburgers.
My favorite fast food restaurant is Chick-fil-A because of the chicken sandwich.
