General: Three-year letterman...preseason 2004 honorable mention All-America selection by Face-Off Yearbook as a faceoff specialist...outstanding midfielder whose game is defined by his big heart, his determination and his incredible hustle...has great size at 6-2, 215...lettered as a freshman while seeing considerable time as a reserve midfielder...also did a good job in the faceoff circle for the Tar Heels...stepped up contributions in all areas of his game as a sophomore and as a junior, particularly in the faceoff circle where he has done an excellent job...named to 2000 All-Baltimore City/County Boys Lacrosse Team by the Baltimore Sun...2000 second-team All-Metro selection by the Baltimore Sun as a senior in high school.
2003 Season: Had another outstanding season for the Tar Heels...played in all 13 games as Carolina's top faceoff man...won 83 of 153 faceoffs, a percentage of .542...had 42 ground balls on the season...won 94.1 percent of his faceoffs against Bucknell, winning 15 of 16...also won 15 of 22 against Navy, winning 68.2 percent in that game...other top games were 11 of 19 against Stony Brook (.579), 8 of 11 against Maryland (.727) and 7 of 13 against Air Force (.538)...had season high nine ground balls against Bucknell...also had eight ground balls against Stony Brook and seven against Navy.
2002 Season: Won the Holmes Harden, Sr. Memorial Award for claiming the most ground balls on the team...had 59 grounbd balls while playing in all 13 games...was Carolina's top man in the faceoff circle as he won 113 of 194 attempts for a winning percentage of .582...the 113 faceoff wins were the third most in a season in Carolina history...his best game came against Delaware when he won 19 of 23 faceoffs...that total of 19 is the second most faceoff wins in a game in UNC history...also won more than 10 faceoffs in a game against Ohio State (14), Denver (12), Fairfield (12) and Navy (11)...won at least half of his faceoffs in nine of 13 games...had a career high for ground balls at nine against both Ohio State and Delaware...also had eight ground balls against Denver and six against Duke and Fairfield.
2001 Season: Saw action in all 12 games for the Tar Heels as a freshman...scored two goals and had one assist against Pfeiffer...also had a season high four ground balls in that game...had three ground balls versus Bucknell and two against UMBC...won nine of 14 faceoffs against UMBC, six of 12 against Pfeiffer and four of five against Bucknell...won three faceoffs each against Delaware and Maryland.
Prep: Graduated in May 2000 from Calvert Hall College High School in Towson, Md....was the Cardinals' best player there as a senior...missed part of his senior year because of surgery brought on by torn miniscus in both knees...missed two weeks of his senior year because of that surgery...scored 15 goals on 38 shots for Calvert Hall as a senior and added seven assists...won 70 percent of his faceoffs for the Cardinals...his return to the lineup helped the Cardinals win three of their final four games, including their second win of the season over St. Mary's...won the team ground ball award as a junior and senior...played junior varsity lacrosse as a freshman and varsity lacrosse his last three years in high school...played one year of freshman football, one year of JV football and one year of varsity football...played on the volleyball team as a senior...as a junior he was named All-City/County in lacrosse and second team All-Metro while being named to the Top 205 all-star team...as a senior he was first team All City-County, first team All-Metro and a first team Senior MIAA All-Star on the lacrosse field...was a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Students Against Drunk Driving...honor roll student in high school.
