Bio
2020 (Senior): Team co-captain with Justin Anderson and William Perry • Started all seven games on defense, finishing the season with one assist, 15 ground balls and six caused turnovers • His six caused turnovers tied for second most on the team • Picked up a career-high four ground balls twice during the season, first against Mercer and again at Johns Hopkins • Had four other games with at least one GB and one CT – Colgate (1gb, 1ct), Lafayette (1gb, 2ct), Furman (2gb, 1ct) and Bryant (1gb, 1ct) • Also added two ground balls at Denver • Remainder of season canceled due to COVID-19 pandemic • Named to the ACC Academic Honor Roll • Tar Heel Scholar-Athlete for the spring and fall semesters of 2019.
2019 (Junior): Appeared in all 15 games with 13 ground balls, one shot and one assist on the season • Opened the season with two ground balls at Mercer and then against Furman • Had one ground ball against Johns Hopkins and two against Marist • Took the second shot of his collegiate career and picked up two ground balls versus Cleveland State • Added a ground ball at Maryland • Made the first assist of his career at Virginia • Added a ground ball against Syracuse in the regular season, against Syracuse in the ACC first round and against Virginia in the ACC semifinal • Named to the 2018-19 ACC Academic Honor Roll.
2018 (Sophomore): Was one of Carolina’s short-stick defensive midfielders • After missing the first two games of the season due to injury, he played in 12 games • Scored against Virginia • Had 10 ground balls and three caused turnovers • Recorded two ground balls apiece against Hofstra, Richmond and Duke • Earned honors on 2018-19 ACC Academic Honor Roll.
2017 (Freshman): Saw action in victories over UMBC and Lehigh, scooping up a ground ball against the Retrievers • Earned letter on ACC championship team • Named to 2016-17 ACC Academic Honor Roll • Named to spring semester 2017 Dean’s List.
Prep: Attended Governor’s Academy in Byfield, Mass. • Coached there by Peter Bidstrup • As a senior, he was named All-League and earned Bostonlax.net first-team All-Massachusetts honors • Was also All-League as a junior and freshman player of year at Governor’s Academy • The team won the league title his junior year • As a captain, he led his squad to a 14-2 record as a senior • Was All-ISL selection in football as well, leading team to league title as junior • Maintained a 3.4 GPA throughout high school.
Personal: Cameron Cole Macri is the son of Belinda and Garrison Macri • Born August 15 in Walnut Creek, Calif. • Has an older brother, Ryan, who also played lacrosse at Carolina (2014-18) • Majoring in economics • Helped build a house for Habitat for Humanity in Orange County • Made multiple visits to UNC Children’s Hospital Pediatric Playroom through Carolina Outreach program • His family currently lives in Chapel Hill.
