Bunting To Kick Off Dance Marathon on Friday at 10 p.m.
Feb. 23, 2001
North Carolina Head Football Coach John Bunting will kick-off the Athletic Lip-Sync competition at the UNC Dance Marathon on Friday, Feb. 23 at 10 p.m. at Fetzer Gymnasium. For the last two years, the lip-sync competition has been one of the highlights of the Dance Marathon.
The Dance Marathon is an event organized entirely by students, raising money for the North Carolina Children's Hospital. In its first two years, the Marathon has donated over $110,000 to the Hospital, forming relationships with the children that it treats as well as their families.
In addition, Bunting is one of four celebrity judges at the fourth annual Chili Cookoff at the Farmer's Market in Raleigh on Saturday, February 24. The Cookoff, presented by Sunny 93.9 and the North Carolina Cattleman's Beef Council, will be held from Noon - 3 p.m. Admission is $5 for all you can sample and portions of the proceeds will benefit the Interfaith Food Shuttle.
Those in attendance will sample chili from restaurants all over the area, including Red, Hot & Blue, The Warehouse, UNC Dining service, and Rum Runners.
A Mariachi band will be providing entertainment and a kid's area with face painting will be available. Other celebrity judges include WTVD's Francis Scott and Steve Daniels and the Governor's mansion Head Chef Bob.
