JUNIOR SEASONÂ (2019-20)

SOPHOMORE SEASONÂ (2018-19)
Started all 36 games at the ‘5’ • Led the team in field goal percentage (.574) • Second in offensive rebounds (82) and was third in rebounding (5.6) • Had five offensive rebounds six times • Led UNC with 12 defensive player of the game awards (20 in two seasons) • Defensive player of the game in three of UNC’s five post-season games and five of the last 10 contests • Scored in double figures 12 times (UNC was 10-2 in those games) • Had 11 assists and no turnovers in 48 minutes in the two wins over NC State • Made 52 of 81 field goals (.642) in the last 16 games.
2018-19 Game Highlights
Received stitches in his lower lip and had two teeth damaged when he took an elbow to the face in the first half of the Washington game • Missed the last 12 minutes of the first half, but returned to play almost 15 minutes in the second half • Had 10 points and eight rebounds against Iona in the NCAA first round – scored eight of his 10 in the second half.
Scored 11 points in the ACC quarterfinal win over Louisville, marking the first time this year he scored in double figures in consecutive games (second time in his career) • Had 10 points and two blocks in home win over Duke – offensive rebound and jam gave UNC a 66-60 lead • Was the third straight game he scored in double figures vs. the Blue Devils • Made two key plays in the 81-79 win at Clemson – hit a 15-foot, baseline jumper as the shot clock expired to stop a 6-0 Tiger run, then teamed with Coby White to force a turnover with four seconds left on the final play of the game to preserve the victory • Carolina’s defensive player of the game vs. Florida State (the Tar Heels held the Seminoles to almost 19 points below their season scoring average and limited FSU to 18 field goals and a season-low 30.5 percent shooting from the floor) • Made 6 of 7 field goals, scored 14 points, grabbed eight rebounds and played stellar defense in the win at No. 1 Duke • The 14 points tied his second-highest scoring game as a Tar Heel and were the most he scored since the first game of the season • Scored 12 points and had eight rebounds in the loss to Virginia (had five offensive rebounds, two more than the entire Virginia team) • Was 4 for 4 from the floor, had a career-high 10 rebounds (five on both ends) and a career-high six assists with no turnovers in home win over NC State • Made 6 of 9 field goals and scored 12 points (eight in the second half) in the win at Louisville • Tied his career high with nine rebounds at Georgia Tech • Scored 11 of his 12 points in the first half as UNC built a 14-pointlead in the win over 10th-ranked Virginia Tech • Perhaps his finest all-around game as a Tar Heel in the 90-82 win at NC State when he had 11 points, seven rebounds, five assists, no turnovers and was the defensive player of the game • Was the second game in a row he led UNC in assists, something he didn’t do in his first 50 college games • Then-career-high five assists plus eight points, nine boards and zero turnovers at Pitt (first time he led UNC in assists) • Then-career-high nine rebounds vs. Gonzaga (tied his career best with five offensive boards that led to seven UNC points) • Tied his career high with five offensive rebounds vs. Texas • Had 12 points and eight boards against Stanford • Career-high 20 points in the season-opening win at Wofford • Made nine field goals in 15 attempts, both career highs (made five field goals twice last year and attempted seven field goals once) • Scored 13 first-half points helping UNC build a seven-point lead.

Played for coaches Frank Tolbert and Chris Brandt at Auburn High School • Earned first-team all-state honors once and second-team honors twice • Opelika-Auburn News Player of the Year • Played in the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star game • Averaged 14.3 points, 9.1 rebounds and 2.3 blocks as a senior and broke the school record for career blocks with 334 • Scored 1,457 points and grabbed 1,116 rebounds in his four years, becoming the second player in Auburn High history with 1,000 or more in both categories • Earned first-team all-state, all-region and all-area honors • Was the runner-up for Class 7A state player-of-the-year honors.
