Injured his knee in spring practice and will most likely miss the entire season, effectively ending his career • Tore the MCL and PCL in his right knee and did damage to the posterior capsule in a special teams drill • Was slated to be the Tar Heels starting defensive tackle for the second consecutive year.
2000 • Junior Season
Started every game at defensive tackle • Had 46 tackles, including 24 primary stops and 22 assists, and made five tackles for loss for 27 yards and two sacks for 18 yards • Played 603 snaps • Registered at least one tackle in all but one game • Had a season-high nine tackles in the Maryland win, including an 11-yard sack of Shaun Hill that forced a punt • Made five tackles vs. NC State, including two tackles for loss and a 7-yard sack • The sack of NC State’s Philip Rivers was the first of his career.

Earned a scholarship prior to the 1999 season • Played in all 11 games and made one start • Had 19 tackles, including 13 primary stops • Played 300 snaps • Appeared on a season-high 40 snaps against Houston • Started at tackle against Wake Forest and had a season-high four tackles • Made three primary stops against Furman and the Deacons • Recovered a fumble in the win over Duke • Recovery led to a UNC field goal • In 1998, he saw action in each of the last nine regular-season contests • Played 100 snaps • Made five tackles and had one tackle for a loss • Had a one-yard tackle for loss against Maryland.
