In her new role as assistant A.D., Hanson will lead and continue to enhance all football on-campus recruiting efforts, while also assisting with all 28 Carolina Athletics sport programs by collecting and disseminating best practices for recruiting student-athletes to UNC. In addition, she will assist fundraising and corporate partnership efforts by identifying and establishing opportunities to tell the Carolina story to UNC's donors and partners.
While added additional responsibilities, Hanson will continue to develop and monitor strategic planning for recruiting operations, built on the foundation of Carolina Football's defined core values, commitment to excellence and recruiting and operational goals. She plans, oversees and executes all on-campus recruiting efforts, with primary focus on official visits, unofficial visits, game day recruiting programming, junior days and special events.
Hanson also serves as liaison for high school coaches, prospects and families by building meaningful relationships and exemplifying the Carolina Athletics mission of educating and inspiring through athletics. In addition, she oversees all forms of recruiting correspondence, including social media communication, recruit mailers, email and questionnaires, while organizing and logging recruit ticket lists for all recruiting events, film evaluations, weekly high school results, and recruiting correspondence.
Prior to joining the Tar Heels, Hanson worked three years for the University of Oklahoma Athletic Department. She was hired as the Assistant Director of Development after two seasons as a graduate assistant for the Sooner Club, and also assisted with OU's football operations. Additionally, Hanson has worked for programs at Kansas State and Nebraska and with the NFL's Jacksonville Jaguars.
A former student-athlete of Oklahoma, Hanson earned first-team All-Big 12 and Academic All-Big 12 honors as a captain of the OU track and field program and is a program record holder in the steeplechase. A native of Clay Center, Kan., Hanson graduated from OU in 2012 with a bachelor's degree in business administration and earned a master's degree in intercollegiate athletics administration in 2014.
She is married to Zach Hanson, Carolina's special teams and tight ends graduate assistant.
