First team All-District 5A offensive tackle as a senior, and second team as a junior • Also earned second team All-District recognition at defensive tackle his junior year • Led Austin High in sacks his junior and senior year and led all defensive linemen in tackles both years • Played tight end his sophomore season • Participated in the El Paso County High School All-Star Game • Coached by former Miner quarterback Mike Perez at Austin High School in El Paso • Three-year varsity letterwinner • Member of National Honor Society and had a 3.9 grade point average as a prep.
