In 1998 (track): Made an immediate impact even though he only competed in two events all season ... Was second on the team in the indoor (53-5 3/4) and outdoor (56-4 1/2) shot put with his throws at the ACC Championships ... His throw of 56-4 1/2 at the ACC outdoor meet is the fourth-best mark in school history ... Finished second at the outdoor ACCs and fourth at the indoor ACCs ... Placed second in the shot put at the USTCA Cup with a mark of 52-10 1/4 ... Finished fourth in the outdoor shot put (51-9 1/4) at the UNC Invitational.
