Earned a scholarship prior to the 1999 season. Handled Carolina’s long snapping duties on field goals, point after attempts and punts for the second year in a row. The Tar Heels punted 81 times last year without having a single one blocked. Was on the field for 118 plays. ACC Honor Roll recipient. Should handle deep-snapping duties for the third consecutive year. Played football and baseball for four years at Beddingfield High School. Played linebacker and center for Coach Tyrone Johnson. Earned all-region and all-conference honors and played in the East-West All-Star Game as a senior. Led Beddingfield to the high school playoffs in both his junior and senior seasons. Beddingfield’s valedictorian and a member of the National Honor Society.

Born Jason Thomas Beamon on April 8, 1978. Majoring in history. Enjoys hunting and fishing. Wants to be a farmer after graduation. His father races late-model stock cars. Favorite sports figures are Dale Jarrett and Jackie Bushman. Would like to be a NASCAR star. Favorite thing about being a Carolina football player has been never losing to Duke and NC State.
