Two-year starter • Began his junior season as the starting quarterback, but moved to wide receiver during the middle of the season and became an all-region player in both seasons • Named all-state as a senior • Caught 20 passes for over 300 yards and six touchdowns as a senior • Also played defensive back and returned kicks • Returned two punts and two kickoffs for touchdowns as a senior • Had nine career interceptions, including four as a senior • Coached by Mickey Crocker • Member of the track team and was the state champion in the 400 meters as a junior • Attended the same high school as former Tar Heel standout and current UNC Assistant Athletic Director Rick Steinbacher.
