Enters his third season as the starter at right defensive end • Holds the UNC record for bench (460 lbs.), power clean (363) and squat (640) by a defensive end • Had surgery on his left foot in January and did not participate in spring drills.

2004 - Junior season
Started all 12 games at defensive end • Had 48 tackles, including 22 solo stops and 26 assists • Led the team with 7.5 tackles for losses of 22 yards • Also notched three sacks and a team-high eight quarterback hurries • Played one of his best games of the season in the Continental Tire Bowl against Boston College, registering eight tackles, two tackles for loss, one sack and forcing a fumble • Played well in the win at Duke, posting four tackles, including a two-yard sack • Helped limit the Blue Devils to just 234 total offensive yards • Made two tackles in the win over Wake Forest before injuring his ankle •Recorded six tackles against Virginia Tech • Had an outstanding game in the win over No. 4 Miami with four tackles and three quarterback hurries • Made three tackles against Utah • Suffered a hip pointer and left the game early against NC State • Had one assisted tackle against the Wolfpack • Played one of the best games of his career against Florida State with seven tackles (three primary, four assists), including three tackles for losses of 14 yards and a five-yard sack • Posted four tackles, including a tackle for loss against Louisville •Had four tackles and one quarterback hurry against Georgia Tech •Started and had one tackle at Virginia • Made four tackles in the Tar Heels' win over William & Mary.

2003 - Sophomore season
Played in 11 games and started five • Made starts against FSU, NC State, Virginia, East Carolina and Arizona State • Finished the season with 30 tackles, including 20 primary stops and 10 assists, two tackles for losses of nine yards, one fumble recovery and six quarterback hurries • Started against Florida State and had two tackles and one quarterback pressure • Posted three solo tackles and a three-yard sack against Syracuse • Did not play at Wisconsin after missing practice time with a hamstring injury • Started at NC State and had two tackles and a six-yard tackle for loss • Made five tackles in the win at East Carolina • Recovered a fumble on a lateral pass and returned it 19 yards to the Carolina 11-yard line against Arizona State • Carolina scored on the next play • Had four tackles at Clemson, three vs. Wake Forest and one at Georgia Tech • Posted a season-high eight tackles, including seven solo stops versus Duke in the season finale.

2002 - Freshman season
Played in all 12 games and started the final five games of the year at defensive end • Became the starter after Will Chapman's season-ending wrist injury • Had 35 tackles, including 23 primary hits and 12 assists • Also had one tackle for loss and broke up one pass • Played an average of 35 snaps per game, including a season-high 50 snaps at Duke • Had his most productive game of the year in the win at Arizona State with six tackles (four solo, two assists) • Made four tackles against NC State, Maryland and Duke • Redshirted in 2001.

Named conference lineman of the year • Helped lead Dudley to the conference championship and the state playoffs for the first time in 26 years •Finished the season with an 8-3 record •Two-year starter at linebacker and tight end • All-conference as a senior and honorable mention as a junior • Coached by Bob Warren • Also played basketball, baseball and track.
