General: A three-year returning letterman in Carolina's attack unit..starter on attack for 2 1/2 years...was an outstanding all-around athlete at Gilman School, playing four different varsity sports...a three-time All-Metro selection by the Baltimore Sun, making the second team as a sophomore and junior and the first team as a senior...played on two Gilman lacrosse teams which won MIAA state titles...a southpaw with outstanding stick skills...had 37 goals and 18 assists as a senior at Gilman while scooping up 84 ground balls...as a junior he had 38 goals and 11 assists...has an incredible over-the-shoulder power shot...displays hustle and sheer determination on the field.
2003 Season: Had to overcome some midseason injury problems to play in 10 games for the Tar Heels...started the first four games before suffering a severe shoulder separation...had two goals in Carolina's game at Navy including a goal in the last second that sent the game into overtime...also had in a goal against Notre Dame...also had a season high four ground balls against Notre Dame.
2002 Season: Had another solid season as a sophomore, starting 10 games and playing in all 13 on the attack end of the field...tied for the team leadership in goals scored with 18 and was tied for fourth on the team in points with 24...equalled his career high for goals in a game with three on three occasions in 2002...had three each against Ohio State, Bucknell and Fairfield...equalled his career high for points with four against OSU and Bucknell...had a career high five ground balls in the win at Fairfield...added a goal and two assists against Johns Hopkins and two goals and four ground balls against Maryland.
2001 Season: Started in the attack as a freshman and was Carolina's third-leading scorer with 19 points...had 11 goals and eight assists on the season along with 22 ground balls...his 11 goals were the third highest total on the team and his eight assists were the fourth highest on the squad...had a season high for goals with three against Butler...season high for points in a game was four against Fairfield and four against Duke in the ACC Tournament...had one goal and a season high three assists against Fairfield and two goals and two assists against Duke...had two goals against Delaware and single tallies against Duke and Maryland...had assists against Navy and Johns Hopkins...season high for ground balls was four against Fairfield and Duke...also had three against Maryland and Virginia.
Prep: Graduated from the Gilman School on June 5, 2000...played four years of varsity lacrosse there as well as three years of varsity football, two years of varsity ice hockey, one year of varsity indoor track and one year of junior varsity lacrosse...played on 1998 and 1999 Gilman varsity football teams which went undefeated...was the captain of the 1999 football team...was named All-State and All-Conference in football as a senior...in lacrosse he was a three-time All-Metro selection...was also named All-City and All-County and was a member of the Bay State Team...his scoring abilities as a senior always assured that he drew the coverage of the opposing team's #1 defenseman...named by the Baltimore Sun to the 2000 All-Baltimore City/County Boys Lacrosse Team..one his best games of his senior year came when he led the Greyhounds to a come-from-behind 11-10 victory over Landon of Montgomery County...Lucas scored the first three goals of the second half to ignite a six-goal run that overcame a 6-2 halftime deficit.
