Mike D’Alessandro
Breschi on D’Alessandro: Great leader…tremendous kid for team chemistry and an outstanding upperclassman.
General: Because of multiple knee surgeries he has been unable to compete during his Tar Heel career but has remained a part of the team the entire four years in an off-field role.
2018 (Senior): Serves on UNC Athletics’ Student Athlete Advisory Committee.
2017 (Junior): Named to 2016-17 ACC Academic Honor Roll…UNC Scholar Athlete.
2016 (Sophomore): Rising Star in the Carolina Leadership Academy...merited ACC Academic Honor Roll accolades.
High School: Alumnus of Don Bosco Preparatory High School in Ramsey, N.J., where he played for coach Mike Springer…attended Don Bosco from 2011-14…named first-team All-State, first-team All-County and first-team All-League in 2013…tapped for national preseason Player of the Year watch list in 2014 but sat out his senior with knee injury … also earned multiple individuals awards in football…named first-team All-County and first-team All-League in 2012…his team won the Bergen County championship in 2012 and 2013…Division Champions in 2012...State Champions in 2013…runner-up in the state in 2012…football team won national championship in 2011…was a member of Tri-State Black lacrosse from 6th to 9th grades…that club won national tournament and went 24-0 in summer during ninth grade…scored the go-ahead goal in the championship match…made the All-Star team at Maverik Showtime Camp...honor roll student every year of high school.
Personal: Michael Thomas D’Alessandro is the son of Michael and Margaret D’Alessandro…exercise and sport science major…was born on April 20, 1996 in Midland Park, N.J…has three sisters, Kelly, 20, Kate, 18, and Erin, 14…active in community service during high school...volunteered by helping students with homework and in soup kitchens…worked at open houses at Don Bosco Prep...currently a member of UNC’s Student Athlete Advisory Committee and bCLA’s Leadership Lab…active in community service at Carolina where he has helped kids at Northside Elementary, volunteered with children’s playroom at UNC Hospitals and have gone to nursing homes in area.

Section #1: Lacrosse Related
My favorite thing about wearing Carolina Blue is the history, tradition and commitment to excellence.
I love competing for this incredible coaching staff because they want to win a national championship with dignity and class.
My most underrated strength about my lacrosse game are my versatility and will to win.
My best friend on my high school lacrosse team was Jack Ray and he is now playing at Navy.
Every high school recruit should dream of becoming a Tar Heel because of the tradition of excellence and opportunity to compete in the ACC.
Section #2: Your Interests
An ideal Saturday afternoon in the summer is spent swimming in the pool while playing pool basketball.
My teammate with the best taste in music is William McBride because he listens to what I listen to.
My favorite professional sports team is the Chicago Bears.
The best movie I’ve ever seen on a lacrosse bus trip is Point Break.
The foreign country I would love to visit most are Italy and Ireland because they are part of my heritage.
Section #3: Food
My favorite tailgate foods are strip steak and an Arnold Palmer.
My favorite fast food restaurant is Moe’s Southwest Grill because of the stack.
Sweet, salty or both? Sweet.
My favorite food made by a relative is Grandma’s corned beef.
My favorite Chapel Hill dining spot is Lucha Tigre.
Section #4: Digging into your Personality
If I possessed the gift of time travel, I would go to the 1986 Super Bowl when the Bears won it.
The person in history I would most want to have dinner with is Walter Payton.
People would be very surprised to know if I never got hurt I’d be playing both lacrosse and football here at UNC.
In a quarter century I would love to be living in New Jersey and working on Wall Street.
The most interesting or fascinating person I’ve met in my time at UNC Sally Mack because she’s amazing.
