General: Was a solid addition to the UNC program in the midfield unit last year...is the nephew of Tar Heel lacrosse great Michael Burnett who was an All-America attackman at Carolina from 1980-83 while leading the Tar Heels to a pair of national championships and is now an assistant coach at Carolina...his father Jim played at Maryland with the great Frank Urso and Ed Mullins, winning a national championship for the Terrapins.
2002 Season: Played in 11 games last season as one of Carolina's top two faceoff specialists...he won 48 of 91 faceoff attempts on the season for a percentage of 52.7...he also scooped up 30 ground balls...had his best faceoff effort against UMBC when he won 13 of 17...had a season high seven ground balls in that game...he won 8 of 13 faceoffs against Hofstra, 6 of 10 against Virginia in the ACC Tournament and 9 of 19 against UVa in the regular season...had five games with four or more ground balls. Prep: Graduated from Severna Park High School in 2001...played lacrosse for four years there in the midfield unit...was also a three-year letterman in football playing tailback and outside linebacker...played on the 4A public school state championship lacrosse team at Severna Park...was named to the Bay State honor squad as a sophomore...named to 2001 All-Anne Arundel Country Team by the Baltimore Sun...he capped his career with five goals in a regional final loss to Arundel, 12-11...he finished his senior year with 35 goals, 15 assists, 110 ground balls and an 80 percent winning percentage on faceoffs despite being hurt most of the season...his high school coach, Mike Bellotte, says he was one of the nation's most consistent players his four years there...had career totals of 128 goals, 41 assists and 410 ground balls.
