• R.G. is a tremendous athlete. His hands are tremendously quick.
• He won over 70 percent of his face-offs last fall in the two scrimmages we had.
• His shooting and stick work in transition are a big plus for him.
• Some of his greatest strengths include that he wants to be able to win the face-off draw to different spots on the field instead of just being one-dimensional on where he's putting it and I think he's done a nice job of working on that individual skill work.
General: 2012 Face-Off Yearbook preseason honorable mention All-America...returning letter winner for the Tar Heels...a solid 5-10, 210-pound midfielder and face-off specialist.
2011 (Freshman): 2011 USILA third-team All-America selection in the face-off circle...won the Holmes Harden, Sr. Memorial Award for leading the team in ground balls with 109...that matched the sixth highest total in a single season in UNC history...was a first-team All-Freshman Team selection by Inside Lacrosse...won 191 of 321 face-offs for a percentage of .595...his 191 face-off victories were the fourth most in a single year in Tar Heel lacrosse history...played in all 16 games...scored his first career goal against Dartmouth...also scored against Virginia and had a goal and an assist in the win at Lehigh...had double digits in ground balls three times including 12 each versus Navy and UMBC and 11 against Notre Dame in the Tar Heels' overtime win against the Fighting Irish...had six other games where he scooped up seven or more ground balls...won 10 or more face-offs in a game 11 times...had 18 face-off wins versus Navy, Duke and Dartmouth...his 18 of 21 performance against the Big Green was his highest face-off percentage of the season at .857...was stellar against Navy, winning 18 of 22 draws and against Notre Dame when he won 15 of 21...was 60 percent or better in the face-off circles for the Tar Heels eight times...failed to win 50 percent of his face-offs only three times in 16 games.
Prep: Was considered to be the top face-off man coming out of the high school class of 2010...excellent all-around midfielder...ended up as No. 10-ranked recruit in 2010 senior class as named by Inside Lacrosse Magazine...prepped at Baltimore's Boys' Latin School...coached there by Bob Shriver...captain of team as senior when he led Boys' Latin to MIAA championship game...2010 Under Armour Lacrosse All-America honoree...won squad's spirit and ground ball awards in 2009...All-MIAA selection in 2009...was the top-ranked face-off man in the MIAA ranks...Inside Lacrosse No. 38 Young Gun Rising Senior...All-Metro Second Team in 2009...led 2007 team to undefeated junior varsity season and MIAA championship...played for Baltimore Crabs Club Team which lost only one game in four seasons...led that team to Vail Shootout championship last summer. 1. The best thing about being a Tar Heel lacrosse player is keeping and being a part of the family tradition.
2. My favorite thing about competing for Coach Breschi is his passion and enthusiasm for the sport of lacrosse.
3. Since last year the aspect of my training I've worked on the most is my quickness.
4. My best friend on another college lacrosse team is Kevin O'Neil (Villanova).
5. My greatest strength as a lacrosse player is ground balls.

1. Away from the lacrosse field and academic pursuits I like to spend time outdoors.
2. The best movie I've seen recently is Jackass 3D.
3. If I could compete in another sport at UNC it would be soccer.
4. The music act I'd most like to see in person is The Eagles.
5. The personal interest I have that might surprise my teammates is I like to hunt.

1. After a game at Fetzer Field, I'd like to see a tailgate spread that included wings, burgers and salad.
2. My favorite beverage is sweet iced tea.
3. My favorite food made by a relative is my grandmother's pound cake.
4. My favorite place to eat in Chapel Hill is IP3.
5. My favorite guilty pleasure food wise is Swedish Fish.
