Chris Cloer
- Title:
- Volunteer Assistant Coach
Chris Cloer joined the UNC men's tennis staff in the fall of 2017 as a volunteer assistant coach.
“We’re really excited to have Chris join our staff,” UNC coach Sam Paul said. “He brings a tremendous amount of experience from the collegiate level and also the professional level. He’s coached in both arenas and we know he’ll make a big impact in our program.”
A 2009 graduate of Florida State with a degree in economics, Cloer has served as travel coach for players on the ATP and WTA tours. He also has coached at NC State and directed local academy programs.
While a player at Florida State, Cloer went undefeated in team NCAA Tournament play and won at least 20 dual meet singles matches in three of his four seasons. Cloer and his brother Mat teamed for the most combined (singles and doubles) wins by any brother duo in ACC history.
A native of Brevard, N.C., Cloer was a two-time North Carolina state high school singles champion.
“I am so excited to join the UNC program,” Cloer said. “Being a North Carolina native I am aware of the culture that they have established and know how hard the staff and players work on a daily basis. I am thrilled to be a part of that family.”
