General—A three-year letter winner and two-year starter as Carolina’s attacking center midfielder...missed most of the 2002 season because of a knee injury but is back as a fifth-year senior in 2003...has developed into one of the most dependable and one of the headiest players in the college game...the last four times she has scored in a match have all been game-winning goals, three of them in NCAA Tournament games...one of the great freshman surprises in the nation in 2000...most people did not know how good a player she had become during her redshirt year...the Tar Heels really improved after her insertion into the starting lineup come post-season tournament time...redshirted during the Tar Heels’ 1999 campaign to earn more experience...made great contributions in practice that season...also a gifted scholar-athlete...chair of ACC Outreach on the UNC campus since 2001, athletic fundraising chair for the UNC Dance Marathon...member of the UNC Honors Program...has been named to the Dean’s List every semester from 1999-2003...four-time ACC Academic Honor Roll selection...won ACC Top Six For Service Award in 2001, 2002 and 2003.
ODP Soccer Experience—Member of the 1997 Under-16 National Team...was a member of the U.S. Under-18 National Team Pool in both 1998 and 1999...member of Sting Soccer Club for eight years as a center midfielder...USYSA Under-17 National Team member and captain in 1999...member of Region III Team and captain of that team for three years...captain of club soccer team, Dallas Sting ‘81.
2002 Season—Earned membership on 2003 ACC Honor Roll for fourth straight year...also made Dean’s List both semesters...was limited to action in only four games because of knee injury...had two assists in those four games—one each against USC and Guilford...won the women’s soccer team’s Athletic Director’s Scholar-Athlete Award.
2001 Season—Started all 25 games for the Tar Heels...scored only three goals but they were all game winners—against Virginia and in back-to-back NCAA Tournament games against Duke and Rutgers...was one of the assist leaders in the ACC with 10, tying for third in the conference...she finished fifth in the ACC in assists per game with 0.40...had two of those 10 assists against Florida State in the regular season game and had single assists against Texas, Charlotte, Georgia, Missouri, Tennessee, Ohio State, UNC Greensboro and against Penn State in the NCAA Tournament...earned All-Tournament honors in the 2001 NCAA College Cup...was named to the ACC Academic Honor Roll with a GPA of 3.40...was tapped for the Dean’s List in the spring semester of 2002 with a 3.74 grade point average.
2000 Season—Had a surprising breakout year for the Tar Heels as a redshirt freshman...played in 23 games...started the last nine games of the season which included three wins in the ACC Tournament and five wins in the NCAA Tournament...Carolina ended the season on a nine-game winning streak which coincided with Walker’s nine starting appearances of the season at the attacking center midfield position...had four goals and five assists on the season for 13 points...her biggest goal of the season was her only game-winner...it came on a 25-yard rocket into the lower left corner of the goal which beat Notre Dame 2-1 in the 83rd minute of the NCAA semifinal game...had one goal and one assist in both the season opener against Texas and the ACC Tournament quarterfinal game against NC State...she also had one goal and one assist as the Tar Heels beat Duke 4-0 in the ACC Tournament championship game...it seemed she always delivered her scoring stats in all the big games of the season...had one assist in both the win at Texas A&M and in the regular-season win over Duke...was named to Soccer Buzz’s Southeast Region All-Freshman Team...turned in a magnificent performance at the 2000 NCAA Tournament final four, being named to the All-Tournament Team there...named to UNC’s Dean List in the fall semester of 2000 and the spring semester of 2001...named to the 2001 Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Honor Roll.
1999 Season—Redshirted on the playing field to gain more experience as a practice player...named to UNC’s Dean’s List in fall semester of 1999 and the spring semester of 2000...also tapped for membership on the 2000 ACC Academic Honor Roll.
