Maggie Kane

Maggie Kane, a four-year member of the North Carolina women's tennis team from 2015-18, returned to UNC to serve as a volunteer assistant coach and the 2020-21 season will be her second term in her current role.
In her first season as a volunteer assistant, the Tar Heels won the 2020 ITA National Team Indoor Championship and finished the season ranked No. 1 for the first time in program history.
After graduation, Kane was the volunteer assistant coach for Charleston Southern University during the 2018-19 season. During the same school year, she worked as a Commercial and Digital Media Intern for the ATP Tour and served as a coordinator for partnership services at Learfield IMG College at the College of Charleston.
Kane, a Raleigh, N.C., native was team captain during her 2017-18 senior campaign and was awarded Most Improved Player honors that season after also garnering the award as a freshman in 2015-16. She won three ACC Championships between 2016-18 and was on the 2015 and 2018 teams that won the ITA Indoor National Team Championship.
She received numerous honors and awards for her work in the classroom. Kane was listed on the ACC Academic Honor Roll all four years, an ITA Scholar-Athlete as a senior and was a recipient of the 2017-18 Athletic Director’s Scholar-Athlete Award that recognizes a top academic performer on each Tar Heel team.
Kane, who spent four years with the Richard A Baddour Leadership Academy, was named a 2017-18 Tar Heel Leader of Distinction, the highest honor bestowed by the Leadership Academy.
She also was a recipient of a 2016-17 Iron Ram Award, the top award for each team in Strength and Conditioning.
Kane earned All-America status during high school career at Needham Broughton High School. She was the 2013 North Carolina High School Female Tennis Player of the Year and the 2012 North Carolina 4A singles champion. Her parents both attended North Carolina. Mom played tennis for the Tar Heels for long-time coach Kitty Harrison, while dad played soccer for legendary coach Anson Dorrance and also served as an assistant women's basketball coach for the Tar Heels.
