Kerby Ivory joined the Academic Support Program for Student Athletes in 2023, where he currently serves as a learning specialist. In this role, he collaborates closely with academic counselors and student-athletes to develop individualized learning plans that foster academic success. He also supports the day-to-day operations of the tutoring program, manages academic infractions and serves as the lead reviewer for tutoring session reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance. Additionally, Ivory plays a key role in the development of policies and procedures that guide the tutoring program’s operations.

As an undergraduate student, Ivory developed his love for education while working as a tutor for the Cape Fear Literacy Council. He continued to work with students while in graduate school, working as a long-term substitute teacher for Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools. Before joining UNC, Ivory served as the writing center coordinator for NC State’s ASPSA program from 2021 to 2023.

Ivory holds dual bachelor of arts degrees in English and philosophy, as well as a master of arts in English with a concentration in rhetoric and composition.

Originally from Schnecksville, Pa., Ivory has called North Carolina home since 2014.
