Ten Tar Heels Earn NFHCA Academic Honor

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Ten Tar Heel field hockey players have been named to the Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad, announced on Thursday by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association. The team recognizes student-athletes who have earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.3 or better through the 2017 fall semester.
Those honored from UNC were Bryn Boylan, Leila Evans, Malin Evert, Morgan Goetz, Feline Guenther, Alex Halpin, Julia Herrington, Megan Ragusa, Meredith Sholder and Cassie Sumfest.
It was the third honor for Evans and Goetz and the second for Evert and Halpin. The rest were recognized for the first time.

The Tar Heels recently were announced among the recipients of the 2017 NFHCA National Team Award for having a team GPA above 3.0.
Guenther, a sophomore transfer who is in her first year at UNC, was honored as a NFHCA Scholar of Distinction, an honor that goes to each player with a GPA of 3.9 or better.
