Patti Raduenz, an all-star player in the Women's Pro Softball League, has joined the University of North Carolina softball staff as an assistant coach. "I'm really excited about adding Patti to the staff," UNC coach Donna Papa said. "She brings a wealth of softball experience to us, both as a player and as a coach."
A native of Burlington, Wis., Raduenz is a 1997 honors graduate of Michigan State, where she played four years for the Spartans and twice earned All-America honors. She batted better than .400 as a junior and senior and finished her collegiate career with a .372 batting average. In her senior season, she was awarded the Big Ten Medal of Honor.
Since college, she has served as an assistant coach at Iowa State and Cal State-Sacramento and has continued to excel on the field, as a shortstop for the Durham Dragons. In 1999, she was named to the WPSL All-Star Team.
At Carolina, Raduenz will work with the middle infielders and serve as the team's hitting coach.
