Hot Shooting Second Half Leads Tar Heels To Win

CHAPEL HILL --- The University of North Carolina made 22 of 26 second-half field goal attempts and went on to defeat the Down Under Bandits from Australia, 96-78, in a men's basketball exhibition game at the Smith Center on Sunday.
Down Under led 44-41 at the half as Carolina made just 15 of 39 first-half shots. The Tar Heels attempted 19 three-point baskets in the first half, converting on eight. In the second half, UNC was 19 for 22 inside the arc and 3 for 4 from three-point range.
Freshman Jospeh Forte led all scorers with 20 points. He was 7 for 11 from the floor, including 4 for 5 on three-pointers. He added five assists and four rebounds.
Forte was one of four Tar Heels in double figures. Jason Capel and Max Owens each had 18 points and Brian Bersticker had 13. Capel was 6 for 9 from the floor, including three three-pointers, had nine rebounds, six assists, two steals and one blocked shot.
Bersticker and freshman Will Johnson had eight and six rebounds, respectively.
Guard Allen McCowan led Down Under with 19 points.
Carolina sophomore forward Kris Lang did not play due to shin splints.
