Women's Tennis No. 27 In Fall Rankings

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - After a strong fall season, the University of North Carolina women's tennis is well represented in the NCAA Division I Women's Fall Rankings.
The Tar Heels are tied at No. 27 in the team rankings, knotted with New Mexico. The team was ranked No. 29 following last season.
Carolina is also highly ranked individually, as a pair of freshman cracked the Women's Singles Top 100. Marlene Mejia of Lansdale, Pa., is tied at No. 52, and Kendrick Bunn of Wilson is tied at No. 101. The freshman duo of Bunn and Kate Pinchbeck, a native of Edmondson Park, Australia, is ranked No. 50 in the Women's Doubles Top 50.
The Heels are ranked No. 7 in the Southeast Regional Rankings, placing four players in the regional singles rankings. Mejia is No. 14, Virginia Beach, Va., senior Jessica Zaganczyk is No. 24, Bunn is No. 27 and Pinchbeck is No. 31.
Bunn and Pinchbeck are No. 11 in the regional doubles rankings, and the tandem of Mejia and junior Erin Niebling of Bay Head, N.J., is No. 15.
