Baseball to Play Mount Olive

The Tar Heels haven't played a game since an 8-6 loss to East Carolina in Greenville, NC on April 27. UNC's next two games scheduled at Boshamer aginst UNC-W and the revenge matchup with ECU were rained out, and the Heels have been off for final exams ever since. Head Coach Mike Fox obviously didn't like the idea of Carolina going into a tough ACC series on the road at Clemson after sitting 11 days on that "L". So the Carolina skipper did the only thing he could: schedule a make-up game before Clemson.
The Heels will welcome Mt. Olive to Boshamer on Saturday, May 8 just before they load the charter for their trip south. Mount Olive is no pushover by any means, however, as they are the third ranked team nationally in NCAA Division II. The added game will be played at noon and will be the Heels' 48th game of the year and the 27th in Chapel Hill where they are an astonishing 25-1 this season. There are currently no plans to make up the other two games UNC has lost to rainouts this year, so Carolina will go into the ACC tournament having played 54 regular season games (two shy of the NCAA limit of 56).
One other fact worth noting is that according to preliminary research, it appears that the Tar Heels have the best home record in the nation. There are a couple of other teams with only one home loss, but the Heels have recorded more wins than those teams and have a better record by percentage points.
GO HEELS!!
