CHAPEL HILL, N.C.--Natalie Anter added another accolade to an outstanding freshman season May 16 when she was named to the All-ACC Tournament team at the conclusion of the ACC Softball Tournament in Tallahassee, Fla. Anter was the only Tar Heel included on the 11-member team and one of only two freshmen to earn the honor.
In the third-seeded Tar Heels' opening game against host Florida State on May 14, Anter blasted a home run that nearly won the game for UNC. Florida State tied the score 1-1 in the bottom of the seventh then earned a 2-1 win in 10 innings. Anter also played impressive defense at catcher in both of UNC's tournament games, the 2-1 loss to FSU and a 6-2 loss to Georgia Tech.
Anter finished the season batting .333, second on the UNC team, and led the Tar Heels in RBI (42) and home runs (8). Carolina wrapped up the softball season with a 40-22 record, reaching the 40-win mark for the first time since 1993.
