UNC Second in ACC's Preseason Softball Poll

The North Carolina softball team has been predicted to finish second in the conference this season in a vote by the ACC's five coaches. Florida State, which won the 1998 ACC Tournament and returns seven starters, is picked to win the conference and garned all five coaches' first-place votes.
The Tar Heels won the 1998 regular season title and return six starters, including ACC Rooke of the Year Radara McHugh, a pitcher. UNC opens the season Feb. 18 when it hosts Minnesota for a double-header at 2 p.m. The Tar Heels will host their annual Triangle Classic Feb. 19-21 at Walnut Creek in Raleigh.
