Three Tar Heels Named All-ACC in Softball

Three North Carolina players - Crystal Henderson, Michelle Semmes and Natalie Anter - have been named to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference softball team, chosen by a vote of the league's five coaches.
Henderson, a junior center fielder from Severn, Md., led UNC with a .547 slugging percentage. She ranked among the ACC's top five in stolen bases (28 of 29, 2nd), doubles (11, 4th), triples (4, 4th) and home runs (6, 4th).
Semmes, a sophomore shortstop from Fayetteville, N.C., led UNC with a .351 batting average, which ranked third in the conference. Her RBI total of 35 in 55 games was fourth in the ACC.
Anter, a freshman catcher/designated player from Upland, Calif., led UNC with eight home runs and ranked second on the team with a .333 batting average. Her 44 RBI led the Tar Heels and ranked second in the ACC. Anter, who caught 17 of 36 baserunners attempting to steal on her, was also named to the All-ACC Tournament team.
The Tar Heels, coached by Donna Papa, finished the season 40-22, reaching the 40-win mark for the first time since 1993.
