CHAPEL HILL - North Carolina point guard Ed Cota is questionable for Thursday night's game at Clemson. Cota did not play last Sunday against Georgia Tech due to a strained left calf muscle. He suffered the injury January 27th at Duke. Cota did not practice the two days prior to the Georgia Tech game and sat out Tuesday's practice earlier this week. He had limited participation in Wednesday's practice at the Smith Center before the team departed for Clemson.
"Ed's status for the game at Clemson will depend largely on how he does at the team shootaround Thursday," said trainer Marc Davis. "I don't see him being able to play significant minutes tomorrow."
Cota, a 6-1 junior from Brooklyn, N.Y., leads the Atlantic Coast Conference and is fourth in the nation in assists with 7.3 per game. He is Carolina's third-leading scorer with 11.0 points per game and third-leading rebounder with 5.1 per contest.
