CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Freshman Natalie Anter has been named ACC Player of the Week after leading the North Carolina softball team to a 3-1 record last week. Anter, a catcher, was 3-for-7 with a home run and four RBI's in a double-header sweep of Campbell on March 31. In a weekend series with Virginia, Anter hit another home run in Saturday's 4-2 win and was 4-for-6 at the plate over the two games.
Over last week's four games, Anter was 7-for-13 with eight RBI, a double and two home runs. She is batting .378 for the season, second on the UNC team behind sophomore shortstop Michelle Semmes' .381. Anter has six home runs this season, equal to UNC's individual high (by Crystal Henderson) for all of last year.
The ACC award is Anter's second of the season. She was also named ACC Player of the Week for the week of March 22.
Carolina is 28-16 on the season and hosts Florida State for a double-header on Friday. On Saturday and Sunday, UNC will host the Tar Heel Invitational, which includes FSU, Florida Atlantic, Florida International and No. 17 Southern Mississippi. Games run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Finley Field.
