June 21, 1999 | Baseball
The winner of Carolina's regional will face the winner of the regional being played at Los Angeles, Calif. That regional's teams are:
No. 1 Pepperdine
No. 2 Southern Cal
No. 3 Virginia Commonwealth
No. 4 Harvard
The Heels are currently making arrangements to fly to the west coast on Wednesday.
University of North Carolina head baseball coach Mike Fox had the following comments on Carolina's selection to the 1999 NCAA Tournament:
"We're obviously very pleased to have been selected. It's been a goal of ours all season to make the NCAA Tournament. We're pleased to be given an opportunity to continue our season and keep playing. I think we're deserving of a bid because of what we did all year long. We wish we'd played better down the stretch, but not every team can enter the NCAA Tournament red hot. Now every team starts from scratch and we want to get out there and play."
