Head Coach Carl Torbush
"Our football team is extremely thrilled with the opportunity to play in the Las Vegas Bowl. From where we started at 0-3 and all the adversity we faced early in the season and then to end the year 6-2, we feel like we are a bowl team. It's a dream come true. We're also excited for our entire football program, the UNC Athletic Department, the University and our fans for the chance to go to an exciting city like Las Vegas. I think it will be well supported. It will truly be a challenge playing an outstanding team like San Diego State."
Athletic Director Dick Baddour
"We are pleased to accept the Las Vegas Bowl invitation. Our players and coaches worked extremely hard to finish the season with a winning record and I am proud of their effort. The Las Vegas Bowl will be an appealing game for our players, coaching and administrative staff and the Carolina fans."
UNC Chancellor Michael Hooker
"I'm happy for the Carolina football program for the chance to continue play in postseason. After some trying times early in the year, the chance to play in the Las Vegas Bowl and finish the season strong is a great opportunity."
