Haywood Stars in USA Victory

CALVIA, SPAIN - University of North Carolina center Brendan Haywood scored 14 points and added a team-high six rebounds and two blocked shots to help lead the United States to a 91-74 win over Greece in the World University Games. The win clinches first place in pool play. The U.S. now faces Canada in the quarterfinals on Saturday.
Haywood, a rising junior at UNC, made seven of his nine field goal attempts and hit a key three-point play in the second half that secured the victory.
Gonzaga's Matt Santangelo led all U.S. scorers with 19 points. Ohio State's Scoonie Penn had 16, Haywood had 14 and Duke's Chris Carrawell added 12.
The United States finished group play with wins in each of its five games. Spain and Russia are also 5-0.
