
Carolina Volleyball Edges Florida State 3-2

TALLAHASSEE, FLA. --The University of North Carolina volleyball team remains undefeated in the ACC (4-0) and is 14-2 for the season after defeating the Florida State Seminoles 3-2(15-9, 2-15, 6-15, 15-9, 15-13) on Sunday (Oct. 1). The Seminoles out-hit the Tar Heels .340 to .280 but Carolina was able to fight back to take the match in five games.
Three UNC players registered double-digit kills led by Casey Simpson with 16 kills followed by Laura Greene and Nicole Reis with 15 and 12 respectively. Lisa Fryer tallied a team-high 11 digs and Eve Rackham posted 51 assists.
Carolina took game one 15-9. UNC fell to Florida State in games two and three with a combined eight points. The Tar Heels rallied back to take game three and ensure a fifth game. Carolina held on to take the game 15-13.
Florida State had four players in with double-digit kills. FSU was led by Jennifer Werrick who captured a match-high 17 kills and 17 digs. Norisha Campbell posted 14 digs and Jamie Hibbard added 56 assists. The Seminoles move to 1-3 in the ACC and 12-6 for the season.
Carolina `s continues their road trip with non-conference action against the 12th ranked Florida Gators on Wednesday (Oct. 4) at 7:30 p.m. in Gainesville, Fla.
