Nov. 29, 2000
Former Tar Heel great Vince Carter, now an NBA All-Star with the Toronto Raptors, will have his Carolina jersey honored Saturday at halftime of UNC's men's basketball game with Kentucky.
Carter, his mother Michelle Carter and former Carolina coaches Dean Smith, Bill Guthridge, Phil Ford and Pat Sullivan will be in attendance for the ceremony.
Carter meets two of the criteria established for having one's jersey honored at the Smith Center. Carter was a consensus second-team All-America selection in 1997-98 and he won an Olympic gold medal last summer in Sydney.
Saturday's game tips off at 3:50 p.m. and is televised nationally on CBS.
