
Carolina Volleyball Edges Clemson 3-2

Clemson, S.C.--Freshman Nicole Reis led the Tar Heels with a career high 34 kills on 80 swings and 15 digs in a victory over Clemson 13-15, 12-15, 15-6, 15-9, 15-13 Tuesday evening at Jervey Gym. Carolina improves to 23-6 overall and 13-2 in the ACC. Defensively, UNC out blocked the Tigers 16-6.
Three Tar Heels produced a double-double in kills and digs. Laura Greene rallied 22 kills and 22 digs and Casey Simpson posted 18 kills and a career high 24 digs. Eve Rackham recorded a match-high 81 assists and a career high 25 digs. Lisa Fryer and Liz Feldman chipped in 12 and 10 digs respectively. Krista Buchholz collected 10 kills and a match high 7 blocks.
Clemson took games one and two with comeback wins. In game three, UNC took an early 3-0 lead and never relinquished control of the game. The Carolina defense held the Tigers to a .100 attack percentage winning 15-6. Carolina and Clemson battled back and forth early in game four. Clemson tied the score 9-9 but Carolina would rally six unanswered points to take the game, 15-9.
In game five, Carolina once again took the lead with Clemson answering to tie the game two times. The Tigers took the lead at 13-10 before Carolina went on a 5-0 run to capture the match.
Clemson was led by Kiki Dallao with 25 kills and 25 digs. Jackie Dalleska recorded 19 kills while Anne Berki added 17 kills and four blocks. Jodi Steffes tallied 10 kills, 23 digs and a match-high five service aces.
Carolina heads to Georgia Tech on Saturday (Nov. 11) to wrap up their regular season schedule.
