CHAPEL HILL --- Senior guard Max Owens likely will not play in the University of North Carolina's season-opening pair of games this weekend in the NABC Classic due to an injury he suffered in Wednesday's practice.
Owens, who scored 16 points in 17 minutes against Yakima on Monday, sprained his left ankle yesterday when he landed on teammate Brendan Haywood's foot.
The Macon, Ga., native averaged 7.8 and 7.4 points per game over the last two seasons, respectively.
