Haywood Has Cartilage Removed From Left Knee

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- University of North Carolina men's basketball player Brendan Haywood underwent successful arthroscopic surgery on his left knee Saturday at UNC Hospitals, UNC head men's basketall trainer Marc Davis announced. The surgery was performed by Dr. Tim Taft, Director of Sports Medicine at UNC.
Haywood's surgery involved the removal of some loose bodies (pieces of cartilage) in his left knee. Taft and Davis deemed the surgery successful. Haywood is expected to make a complete recovery. Davis said Haywood will be ready to resume his basketball duties this fall.
