"Bill's presence will be missed not only at the University of North Carolina, but throughout the Atlantic Coast Conference and college basketball. His complete and unwavering loyalty to his players and fellow coaches is only a part of the legacy that he will leave behind.
"He will be remembered for his integrity, excellence, loyalty and values. People who follow college sports know he is a great coach, but those of us who know him personally realize that he is even a better person."
