Forte and Carter to Meet in Pre-Olympic Exhibition

Sophomore guard Joseph Forte is one of 12 college basketball players named to the USA Basketball Men's Select Team that will play against the USA Men's Senior National Team in an exhibition game on Sept. 2.
Forte, the 2000 Atlantic Coast Conference Rookie of the Year, led the Tar Heels in scoring last year with 16.7 points per game. He was named the Most Valuable Player of the NCAA South Regional after scoring 28 points in the regional title game against Tulsa to send the Tar Heels to the Final Four.
The USA Select Team will be coached by St. John's Mike Jarvis and Cincinnati's Bob Huggins. Forte will be joined on the team by Duke's Shane Battier and Jason Williams, Notre Dame's Troy Murphy, Illinois' Cory Bradford, Kansas' Nick Collison, Stanford's Casey Jacobsen, Ohio State's Ken Johnson, Maryland's Terence Morris, Michigan State's Jason Richardson, Iowa State's Jamal Tinsley and Arizona State's Michael Wright.
The Select Team will begin training in Maui, Hawaii, on August 28. The game against the USA Senior National Team will be played at 7 p.m. Eastern Time and will be televised by NBC. The game is scheduled for the University of Hawaii's Stan Sheriff Center.
Former Tar Heel and NBA star Vince Carter is a member of the USA Senior National Team.
