CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - TarHeelBlue.com, the University of North Carolina's official athletic Internet site, drew a record 95,617 page views Wednesday for the debut of UNC's 2000-2001 men's basketball uniforms. The uniform design was unveiled exclusively on the Carolina website at Noon ET.
According to records at FANSonly, the California-based company which administers TarHeelBlue.com, Carolina's previous high for page views was 67,070 on March 27, 2000, one day after the Tar Heel men's basketball team's NCAA Tournament victory over Tulsa to advance to its sixth Final Four in 10 years. Yesterday's results show a 43 percent increase in page views over the previous one-day high.
As anticipated, TarHeelBlue.com saw its biggest surge, 16,140 page views, from 12-1 p.m., the first hour UNC's new uniforms were available to the public. By 3 p.m., the site had received just under 34,000 page views, which equalled its daily average in March 2000, the most popular month in the history of the site.
Other TarHeelBlue.com highlights this week are "One-on-One With Brandon Spoon" a weekly question and answer session where fans have the opportunity to submit questions for a UNC student-athlete, and "Carolina NewsStand," a daily service which provides links to newspaper articles from around the country about the Tar Heels.
