TarHeelBlue: How did it feel, your first game in Kenan Stadium?
Coach Brewer: "Great, especially with a win. It felt good just to be out there with the fans. Getting off the bus and walking to the stadium, with all the fans urging us on, was a good feeling.
"Hopefully, with us winning, we'll see more people in the stands the next time. We've got to turn them into believers. The only way to do that is to win and put out a good product.
"I think tonight was a good start. They threw a lot of things at us. They knew more about us than we knew about them. They threw a bunch at us defensively. Their defense lined up at us a ton of different ways. I thought our kids adjusted well on the fly.
"We did some good things, but the best thing is we've got some film to coach off of now against some live bullets.
"We dropped some balls we should have caught, but we made some good adjustments, like the scramble drill when we hit Jamal (Jones) for the touchdown. You work on that in practice, and you hope that when you get in a game situation that you execute, and we did exactly what we were supposed to do.
"You know, the fans see a thing like that and think it happens by accident, but we work on things like that and it paid off tonight"
TarHeelBlue: What about Jamal Jones' potential?
Coach Brewer: "He adds another dimension to our group, but I think everybody brings something to the table. He's an exciting guy.
"The way I look at it now, I've got four starters, and he's one of them. I'll play those four, then I've got three more that can contribute, and hopefully they'll push those four starters."
TarHeelBlue: Was there anything obvious that you feel you need to work on after tonight?
Coach Brewer: "I really won't know until I look at the film. It's really hard to see the secondary from the sidelines, plus I've got a lot going on there on the sidelines.
"What I was happy with is that the guys went out and competed. Bosley (Allen), coming off a potential career-ending injury, came out and wasn't skittish at all.
"Sam Aiken hadn't played all that much. The only one who had played any is Kory Bailey. Jamal hadn't played a lick.
"Three of our starters really hadn't played much, but I thought they responded pretty well, but they've got to get better."
TarHeelBlue: How was the communication between the sideline and the offense on the field? Did it go smoothly?
Coach Brewer: "I think it did. We had some adjustments we had to make that we had to see before we could actually do it. You have some things built in. By that I mean it may be signals, it may be hot reads. You work those by letting people expose either weaknesses or strengths.
"Tulsa did a good job of pushing the limit by having everybody they could in the box. They did a lot of different things. You've got to give them a lot of credit."
TarHeelBlue: What are you going to go do now?
Coach Brewer: "I'm going to go watch some games and eat some pizza. I'm going to go watch everybody else play, then it's time to get ready for Wake Forest."
